About my day off from touring…

I woke up early and went to the bank.

I got a haircut and scalp massage.

I had a Wendy’s Jr Bacon chicken meal with extra hot fries and a large sweet tea.

I took a shower.

I went to the mall.

I purchased two sweaters.

I had a salad and a fish sandwhich and some more fries and a water.

I drove home as the sun was setting.

I watched SportCenter.

I did laundry.

I went to sleep.

About this new app I downloaded…

Ben Rowland, an amazing photog from NME hung out with us backstage at the Milwaukee and Chicago shows. (let me not assume you’ve been paying attention to what I’ve been doing. Backstage was backstage at our show with The inimitable “Of Montreal”)

Anyway Ben and I traded iPhone apps and other road stories. I hipped him to Photoshop Express and he put me onto to this photo taking application that develops your pictures after you choose the style of film, lens, AND even the flash. It is incredible and has made the transition to iPhone even better.

See the Photoshop flick of Ben and the instant vintage shot of your boy!

About #homecooking, #getchusome…

Some would actually dare to call this an off year. I get it. I have seen some of your facebook pictures, you are not as prepared as you were last year. The weddings have gotten in your pocketbooks, the age is starting to set in, you’ve already convinced yourself that you just can’t get free that weekend. Some of you have kids who have a soccer game, don’t you? None of that matters.

You don’t go to the club anymore, because nobody your age goes to the club in the city you live in. You don’t know how to Dougie, because you aren’t supposed to. But you do deserve a good time. That will never change. Homecoming isn’t the same without you and we will never pretend that it is.

Don’t act like you don’t have anything to show off. You got the girl of your dreams and people need to see it to believe it…you got a good job or at least enough cash to act like it for two days…that Rogaine is starting to work…its the only time of year that you get tagged on Facebook..maybe it’s your iPhone 4…whatever it is…there is only one place on the planet where your stunts actually matter.

Whatever it is that is holding you back this year, let go of it and just Come Home. We’ll be here.

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

“Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be? The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain…
…When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”

an excerpt from Khalil Gibran’s “The Prophet”

Michael Vick will be our starting quarterback this Sunday.

“When someone is playing at the level Michael Vick is playing, you have to give him an opportunity,” Reid said. “This isn’t about Kevin Kolb’s play. You’re talking about Michael Vick as one the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now.”
